PDHRE LA is the Latin American chapter of PDHRE-People's Movement for Human Rights Education, www.pdhre.org [1]. Since its creation in 1989, PDHRE has worked worldwide with activities at the community level to develop the approaches and educational materials that are the key tools of the program; it is the institution that promoted the creation of the United Nation's Decade for Human Rights Education.

Currently, PDHRE LA promotes the formation of human rights communities [2] throughout Latin America; Rosario being Human Rights City [3]. Human rights cities exist, in part, through a partnership initiated on the basis of the spirit and strengths of two important international actors: PDHRE and the UNDP (The United Nations Development Programme [4]).

A project on the horizon is The Latin American Institute for Human Rights Education [6], which would be a dependent of PDHRE-LA and would exist to plan distinct human rights educational activities.
